Week 96! July 4, 2016

It smells like death in here…

Elder Peterson is a dead man right now. He already packed his bags and they are in the car. Just gonna be Elder Freeland and I for a while. We heard the Hong Kong Elder is not coming in until after I leave, we will see, we’re not sure. Life sure does throw some curve balls at you sometime.

I’m pretty sure I gained like 5 pounds this week. All the members wanted to feed the dying Elder Peterson so everyday we had a big meal appointment. We ate at so many buffets this week. They are good but I’m too full of Chinese buffet food.

This week we met with *** a lot and are working with him. He couldn’t come to church on Sunday but he contacts us frequently throughout the week.

We had an amazing English class on Friday evening. Definitely had 14-15 people there. We had 4 new students and Brother *** brought his wife and son. They just got here on Wednesday. He said he would wait to get baptized until his wife was here. She’s here now. We’ll see where that takes us.

*** and *** invited us to their house to eat dinner and they invited their friend to eat with us. They also came to English class. They’re super nice..
We had 2 different people call us and told us they’d come to English class. What was crazy is this week they actually came. That never happens. They came early too!!

We had a great time doing flood service this week and we had the chance to go work with some members in our branch, it was lots of fun. The flood service should be going on for 1 more week or so.

*** right now is lost and we don’t know where he is. Sister *** is also lost. We tried knocking on her door 3 times and the gate was locked so we couldn’t get in.

That’s about it for this week. The Chinese Trinity will soon come to an end.

Some spiritual stuff – – –

I learned this week, the spirit is like wearing new basketball shoes (Like high-tops). The first time you wear them, and you’ve never worn them before, you feel so much support and it’s crazy how much better you play, you have to get used to the new feeling. At first you always realize they are there but over time you know to put them on but it’s just normal to have them on, no special feeling. You couldn’t imagine not playing with them. The spirit is very similar to this.
After baptism people really feel the spirit and then it really goes down but it’s still always there helping them play and preventing them from getting injured.

A member at church yesterday told us that partaking the Sacrament is like wearing our wedding ring. It show our commitment to our spouse/Jesus Christ.

Russel M. Nelson said this in a video
Don’t demand things that are unreasonable but demand of yourself improvement.

Helaman 12:3
3 And thus we see that except the Lord doth chasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him.
God sure does give us some afflictions on the mission but I know that he does it to help me remember him

3 Nephi 9:14
14 Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me.
Jesus Christ’s arms are truly open wide and he wants us to come unto him. Now the question is, Are you willing?

Love ya’ll out there
Happy 4th of July!!
