*** did it! It was pretty quick but it all turned out great. We had some crazy exchanges this week and we were too busy and had too many appointments to go to at the same time but we made it work and we got ***! His dad was able to come in and see him get baptized and he really liked it. His dad, Brother ***, really enjoyed church and we’re visiting him tonight. His wife already talked to him about church and I talked with *** about it as well. We already know that Brother *** drinks a lot for his work in China but right now he’s in America and he doesn’t need to work. We’ll get him. I won’t be able to see ***’s Mom again because she comes back to Houston about 1 week after I go home so that’s sad but I get to hopefully see Brother *** accept the Gospel, he’s super nice by the way. Expect a baptism coming up before the end of this month.
We had some other miracles take place this week. *** showed up to ***’s baptism and he brought what seemed liked his girlfriend. She is from China and speaks fluent Spanish. She’s been in Columbia for the last 6 years. She’ll be here for 2 months and is super interested in the church. She speaks English in a Spanish accent it’s crazy. This next week is going to be great. I’m really trying to stay positive and tell myself we’re going to have success, then it will actually happen!!
We tried visiting a member that just had a baby and now her parents are here to take care of it. We got rejected! Chinese culture is crazy! The husband was like, oh you need to wait 1 month and we can’t come to church. Also we can’t drink cold water or have A/C or eat spicy foods or feel the wind or some other things. So many crazy rules. I’m not sure if it’s for the baby or the wife. We’ll get the parents eventually but we’ll have to wait a little.
We didn’t do any service this week due the majority of people having insurance. We have to wait until the insurance companies come and record damages or whatever they do, then we can go in and pull out wood and carpet. It should be fun and it’s coming up this week according the the Ap’s.
I went and taught this really cool girl that got baptized int he YSA ward, she was super prepared. I taught her on exchanges with Elder Johnson. Their apartment is right next to the bayou and it got crazy flooded but luckily their apartment was raised and they moved their car. Their car would’ve been destroyed in the rian. Oh yeah, Chinatown got flooded as well. Cars down everywhere. Some missionaries were helping people push cars all day.
The mission life is the best!!
A few scriptures I read this week that stood out to me
2 Nephi 25: 23
Book of Mormon
23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.
D&C 38: 30
30 I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; BUT IF YE ARE PREPARED YE SHALL NOT FEAR!
Good scriptures right there.
There’s more to write about but not enough time!!
Love ya’ll out there,
